Date: 2011-03-22 01:07 am (UTC)My Home and Native Land makes me squirm, because on one hand, Ronon-centric gen fic with him being smart and happy! On the other, though I'm not sure when that was written in terms of canon, my feeling at the end of S5, which I cannot at the moment support with anything specific, is that if Ronon were going to give allegiance to anything it would be Atlantis rather than an Earth nation. And he seems to be more concerned with loyalties on a much more personal level. And on the third, my wanting to say "no! stick with Sateda!" feels like, oh, wringing my hands over the loss of small-population languages in the abstract just because more languages = cool, rather than recognizing the pluses and minuses of the economic realities leading to the loss of many languages--I've never had to leave a culture behind, who'm I to say what he should do?
In conclusion: conflicted!

It seems to me that he's in need of a family, not a country to which he can swear allegiance; and in any event I don't believe one's homeland is so easily replaceable.)
